The Stalkrr License v1.0.

Stalkrr License

Version 1.0 — July 2026

Copyright (c) 2026 Jonathan Ashurov. All rights reserved.

This is a source-available license. The complete source code of Stalkrr is
public so that anyone can verify what the software does with the data it
captures — that transparency is the point of this project. Publicity of the
code is not a grant of unlimited rights; the rights granted are exactly those
below.

TL;DR (non-binding summary): use Stalkrr freely, at home or at work, built by
us or by you. Read and audit everything. Contribute if you like. What you may
not do: sell or redistribute it (or a derivative) as your own product or
service, offer it to others as a hosted service, build a competing product
from it, or tamper with its license-key functionality. Paid features are
unlocked with license keys sold by the maintainers.

1. ACCEPTANCE

By using, copying, modifying, or distributing the software, you agree to all
of the terms below. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

2. GRANT

Subject to these terms, the licensor grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide,
non-transferable, royalty-free license to:

  a. use the software, including for your own personal, internal business,
     educational, research, or nonprofit purposes;
  b. copy, examine, and audit the source code;
  c. modify the software and build it for your own permitted use; and
  d. fork and share the source code (modified or not) for the purposes of
     auditing, contributing, or personal use, provided all copyright and
     license notices are preserved and this license continues to apply.

3. PAID FEATURES AND LICENSE KEYS

Some features of the software are enabled by license keys sold by the
licensor. You may not move, change, disable, or circumvent the license-key
functionality in the software, and you may not remove or obscure any
functionality that is protected by a license key. Keys are personal to the
person or organization they name and may not be shared, resold, or published.

4. LIMITATIONS

Except with the licensor's prior written permission (a separate commercial
agreement), you may not:

  a. sell, sublicense, rent, or distribute the software or a derivative of it
     as part of a commercial product or service;
  b. provide the software or a derivative of it to third parties as a hosted,
     managed, or cloud service;
  c. use the software or any part of its source code to build, offer, or
     operate a product or service that competes with the software or with any
     product or service offered by the licensor; or
  d. use the licensor's trademarks, product names, or logos, except to
     truthfully describe the software's origin.

5. CONTRIBUTIONS

By submitting a contribution to this project you license your contribution to
the licensor under terms that permit its inclusion in the software and in the
licensor's commercial offerings, and you represent that you have the right to
do so. You retain copyright in your contribution.

6. PATENTS

The grant above includes a license under any patent claims the licensor can
license that are necessarily infringed by your permitted use of the software.
This patent license terminates immediately if you or your company make any
claim that the software infringes a patent.

7. THIRD-PARTY CODE

The software includes third-party components under their own licenses,
including whisper.cpp (MIT License) vendored under app/Vendor/. Those licenses
govern those components; see the notices kept alongside them.

8. TERMINATION

Your rights under this license terminate automatically if you breach it. If
the licensor notifies you of a breach and you cure it within 30 days of
becoming aware of it, your rights are reinstated once. Sections 7 through 10
survive termination.

9. NO WARRANTY

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR
IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. THE SOFTWARE CAPTURES
AUDIO, SCREEN CONTENT, AND MESSAGES; YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR USING IT
LAWFULLY, INCLUDING OBTAINING ANY CONSENT REQUIRED WHERE YOU RECORD.

10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER
LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM,
OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.

For commercial licensing beyond these terms (redistribution, embedding,
hosted offerings), contact the maintainers via github.com/StalkrrOS.
